近代日人桂边调查初探——以东亚同文书院的活动为中心

A Preliminary Study on Japanese Investigation in Modern Guangxi Border Area—— Focusing on the Activities of Tongwen Academy of East Asia (同文书院)

明治以后的日本极为关注中国情势发展,各种势力争相介入,广搜信息。地处华南边陲的广西,亦属其窥探范围。日本东亚同文书院的学生多次以大旅行的形式深入广西进行调查,撰写了一批极具实证价值的旅行记和调查报告。还有不少各具背景的企业、团体和个人,到广西了解地域经济、政治、社会与军事情况。这一方面暴露了他们的觊觎之心,另一方面也留下一批宝贵的近代史料。本文以东亚同文书院的活动为中心对此进行了初步探讨。

Since Meiji period,Japan had paid much attention to the development of China,different forces in Japan had intervened in Chinese affairs and searched all kinds of information about China. Although Guangxi is located in the periphery of south China,was also detected by Japan. The students of Tongwen Academy of East Asia often investigated in Guangxi by the name of tour,they wrote a large amount of travel diaries and investigation reports which were full of important empirical values. With different backgrounds,a lot of enterprises and organizations as well as individuals came to Guangxi to collect the materials of economy,politics,society and military affairs. All of these behaviors exposed their covetous ideas. Meanwhile,it left for us many valuable historical datum of modern times. This article,by studying the activities of the Tongwen Academy of East Asia,demonstrates Japanese ambition.
