Low intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS), as a non-invasive bone healing method, can improve the healing of fresh fracture and distraction osteogenesis, decrease the healing time with significant result. The molecular mechanism of LIPUS remains to be a research hotspot. This review explores the mechanism how the low-in- tensity pulsed ultrasound works on cell signal transformation and summaries its clinical studies and molecular bio- logical mechanisms.
