Gui Youguang＇ s prose A Brief Biography of My Deceased Mother has been selected by some im- portant collection of proses such the Gu Wen Ci Lei Zuan , Jing Shi Bai Jia Za Chao , etc. , and was generally valued by later readers, prose writers, especially those of the Tong Cheng School. It also occupies a position in relevant literary history books. By referring related documents, this paper explores how did those prose writ- ers, especially the Tong Cheng writers, comment and receive this famous prose by Gui Youguang. Their writ- ings have drawn nutrition from Gui＇ s work thus have created a tradition of similar themes, which shows the far reaching influence of this work by Gui.
