To Asses a Translated Text in the Perspective of Cognitive Language Context——A Brief Analysis on Chapter 1 of Tao Te Ching Translated by Wing-Tsit Chan

翻译界试图用关联理论来重新审视"译者—译本—读者"三者的关系,同时对不可译和对等性这些理论提出了质疑。但少有研究从实际译本出发,用关联理论来评价译本。本文从关联理论的认知语境着手,以《道德经》陈荣捷版本第一章的翻译为例,来看从关联理论评价译本的可行性,为译者提供一种全新的翻译标准。

The field of translation has tried to apply relevance theory to analyze the relationship between the translators, translated texts and readers and to solve the problem oftransability. However, there are few researchers who have adopted it to evaluate a specific text. Thus, this essay tries to demonstrate how to apply cognitive language context of relevance theory to the assessment of the first chapter ofTao Te Ching, providing a new standard for translators.
