The Cultural Impact of English-Chinese Translation

语言是人类交流的工具,它能传达人类的思想,所以语言是一种复杂的社会现象。由于不同的地域起源和风俗习惯,中西方所产生的文化不同,这些文化在各自的语言中就有所体现,例如宗教信仰的不同、历史发展的变迁、逐渐形成的风俗习惯、人们头脑中的思维方式、个人的价值观都不同,所以在翻译中就不得不考虑文化因素对翻译的影响,既要考虑到相似性,又要考虑到差异性,本文主要从中英文化相似和差异入手,来阐述中英文化差异对英汉翻译会产生的影响。

Language is the tool of human communication and conveys people＇s thought, so it is a complicated social phenomenon. Because of different geographic origins, customs and habits, Western and Chinese cultures are different, and the languages from these cultures are different at the same time, such as the differences of religious beliefs, the changes of historical development, and the differences of thinking mode and personal values in people＇s mind. So when translating, we should take the cultural impact of translation into account. Similarities and differences should be taken into consideration at the same time. The article mainly gives an explanation of the influences of translation that the differences between Western and Chinese cultures bring about.
