In Golden Notebook, To Room Nineteen and love, again, British woman writer Doris Lessing depicts women images who commit suicide to present the difficulty of women seeking autonomy in patriarchy society. We explore female characters who commit suicide to reveal that suicide as a strategy of autonomy and rebellion is determined by the historical background and social status. Moreover, the gradual departure of suicide reflects author＇s more optimistic attitude towards women status and freedom.
