During the Japanese invasion, a number of Japanese shrines were gradually established in China' s important places of military and economy. The shrine in China that was regarded as the extension of the local Japanese shrine and the spokesperson of State Shinto, together with military and economic aggression, became one of the weapons of culture aggression. This paper, taking the shrines built by Japan in Kanto State from Russo--Japanese War to September 18th Incident as the main line, analyzes the overall characteristics of these shrines and further explains the role that shrine plays and the main functions that shrine exerts during the Japanese invasion.
