近代日本在"脱亚入欧"路线下努力向西方靠拢的同时,出现了一股"回归亚洲"的思想动向。木下杢太郎(1885-1945)则是日本近代知识分子中对日本文明定位进行理性思索的代表人物之一。1911年木下杢太郎与克鲁特.格拉扎(Curt Glaser)的中国认识成为木下杢太郎意识与主张的起点。

Modern Japan made an effort to move closer to the West under the route of ＂departure from Asia for Europe＂, in the meantime, there was an ideological trend of ＂returning to Asia＂. Kinoshita Mokutaro is one of the representative modern Japanese intellectuals who thought about the identity of Japanese civilization rationally. The encounter of Kinoshita Mokutaro and Curt Glaser in 1911 was a starting point for Kinoshita Mokutaro＇s consiciousness and theories of Japanese civilization.
