The Constructional Mechanism of Delexical Verbs’Sentence-completing Function: A Case Exploration of “Jinxing”

乏词义动词是现代汉语动词中的特殊次类,以"进行"为例,可以阐明乏词义动词发挥完句功能的建构机制。这一机制涵盖语外条件和语内条件。语外条件涉及三个认知因素:认知优化的推动、认知经济性的要求及认知突显的激发;语内条件则关涉汉语的本体特征:双音化。

This paper investigates the constructional mechanism of the sentence-completing role played by delexical verbs such as 'Jinxing'(进行).The investigation reveals that this mechanism includes extralinguistic condition and intralinguistic condition.The former covers three cognitive factors: drive of cognitive optimization,requirement of cognitive economy and stimulation of cognitive salience.The latter pertains to the ontological characteristics of Chinese,namely its disyllabic feature.
