莱芜矿区属于伸展性掀斜断块构造类型。褶曲构造不甚发育，主要有矿山背料及其两翼的莱 芜向斜和方下镇向斜。断裂构造十分发育，均为正断层，主要有三组，北西向、北东～北东东向和 南北向，其中以北西向一组最为发育。由于断层规模大，方向性强，致使地堑构造发育。

Structure type of laiwu mining area is the tensible, oblique fault block.This zone has little folds includes kuangshan anticline, laiwu syncline and fangzhen syncline. The faults are very developll. The faults consist of three groups: one is NW direction, others are NE to NEE direction and SN direction .The group which is NW direction is the most important one. Because the faults are colossal and very directive, the horst structure is developed.
