印章石是一种特殊的非金属材料 ,分为叶腊石、地开石、绢云母、水云母、高岭石、石英、方解石等矿物类型。颜色、矿物组成、透明度是其经济价值的主要决定因素。中酸性陆相火山岩的蚀变岩是印章石的主要资源 ,以石为名和以人为名是印章石资源开发中的主要途径。

The signet stones are the nonmetallic materials with Chinese traditional characters and divided into many types on the base of minerals,such as pyrophyllite,dickite,sericite,hydromica,kaolinite,quartz and calcite et al..Their economic value is determined by the color,minerals composition and transparency.The continental intermediate acid volcanic rocks altered are the main resources of the signet stones.The methods of the exploitation of the signet resources are the ones on the base of the qualities of the stones themselves and the famous persons who used or sculpted the signets.
