Study on Ancient Chinese Characters and the Reading of Classical Literature

上古文献中存在大量使用文字本义的现象,而有些字的本义如今已很少使用甚至不用,一般人会感到陌生,这就会影响古书的阅读。本文通过一些具体字例的分析,说明利用地下出土的古文字资料如甲骨文、金文等探求文字本义,对促进古典文献的阅读有重要价值。

The original meanings of Chinese characters are employed in ancient Chinese documents. However, they are rarely used or even discarded today, thus affecting the reading of ancient documents. This article analyzes specific Chinese characters to demonstrate that the exploration of the original meanings of Chinese characters through unearthed ancient Chinese writing materials, such as oracle, or inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells （Jiaguwen） and inscriptions on ancient bronze objects （Jinwen）is provided with a significant value in promoting the reading of Chinese classical literature.
