On the Concept of Implication in the Poetics in the Song Dynasty

"含蓄"在宋人的诗学系统中已被赋予了新的价值内涵和实践意义。宋代诗论家将"含蓄"纳入"格卑"以及"雄深雅健"这些具有典型宋代特征的诗学范畴之中进行解释,提出以"含蓄不露"来丰富"雄深雅健"的内涵,使其稍加收敛而更有不尽之余韵,体现在具体创作中,就是"用意要精深,下语要平易。"

Implication has been given new value connotation and practical significance in the poetic system of the Song Dynasty. The poetic commentators in the Song Dynasty connected ＂implication＂ with the ＂low artistic style＂ and ＂magnificent and elegant＂, which are typical poetic connotation of the Song Dynasty. They put forward ＂implication＂ to enrich the connotation of ＂magnificent and elegant＂, making it a little restraint so that the it can last in its appeal. As to the poetic creation, this proposi- tion is represented as ＂deep meaning and simple words＂.
