试析《远大前程》中的疯女人形象——以郝薇香小姐为例

Analysis of the Mad Woman in Great Exprectations——Taking Miss Havisham as an Example

郝薇香小姐是查尔斯.狄更斯《远大前程》中着墨最多、描写最细致、形象最丰满的女性人物之一。她以哥特式的生活方式和曲折的爱情经历深深地吸引了读者。然而,她却是一个被边缘化和异化了的悲剧性人物。当爱情失败,被父权社会剥夺了话语权后,她便把自己囚禁在监狱般的沙提斯宅,过着罪犯般的生活,并以报复的行为使自己走上了疯癫的道路。然而,疫癫的背后,体现出了她向社会的理性抗争。

Miss Havisham is one of the most vivid described female figures in Charles Dickens＇novel Great Expectations. Read-ers were mainly attracted by her gothic living style and twisted love story. However, she was a tragic figure who was marginalized and alienated by the society. When she failed to be ＂An Angel in the House＂ and was deprived of discourse power by the Victoria patriarehic society, she confiv.ed herself in the prison - like Satis House and lived like a prisoner. During the process of revenge to men, she was on the way to madness. Although she was irrational in actions to revenge on men and torment her, indeed, she was rational in actions to resist the patriarchic society. This paper tries to analyze her image as a mad woman.
