The export market of the mill expanded rapidly in resent years. Because of the imperfect protection of the traditional mill control system, the mill breakdowns frequently. It caused the high cost of foreign service. The application of the intelligent control system reduces the failure rate greatly, makes the maintenance more easy, meets the requirements of internationalization. The paper describes the intelligent control system of the mill in detail. It introduces the principle of the control system, communication network, and intelligent human machine interface （HMI）, describes the operation, control mode, monitor, alarm, informations and the intelligent HMI. It discusses how to realize intelligent control system through the hardware and software. It gives the configeration method of the communication between the control system and DCS.
