Electricity price is a key issue in the electricity market; there are many electricity prtemg metnous in theory and actual application. Electricity equivalent pricing theory is a novel method used to calculate the e- lectricity price. In this paper, the principle and essence of electricity equivalent pricing theory are studied. The comparisons among electricity equivalent pricing theory and other methods such as uniform market clear- ing pricing method, UK pricing method, two-parts pricing method are given. The characteristics and advanta- ges of electricity equivalent pricing theory are revealed; and the evaluation of the electricity equivalent pricing theory and its prospect are expounded here.
