A Glimpse of the Changing English Language

现代英语是发展中的语言,它永远不会像幻灯片那样定格不动,而是像影片般不断地变化和显现。随着社会的发展,英语也在不断地变化,新兴的事物和需求也随之涌现,产生了许多的新词新语和言简意赅,更为生动的表达法。本研究从语法和词汇的角度,综合论述了现代英语中具有典型意义的八个方面的变化现象。

Present-day English is a sort of developing language. It is never in a state of fLxation, but is always changing; we are not looking at a lantern-slide, but at a moving picture. As society develops continually, so does language; new things and needs spring up and call forth a lot of new words and more simple and vivid expressions. The present article, in the perspective of grammar and vocabulary, explores eight momentous phenomena of the present-day English in a comprehensive way.
