City Rankings: Prevalence,Pitfalls,and Prospects

伴随着中国城市化进程的日益加快,对城市发展的评价和排名越来越多,城市排行榜作为一种社会现象愈来愈引起人们的广泛关注。本文提出了一个解释城市排行榜供给与需求的理论分析框架,对中国城市排行榜的历史由来、发展状况、主要问题和发展趋势等进行了初步的理论探讨,并提出了未来有待研究的关键问题。本文指出,城市排行榜的出现、特征、影响与治理等是未来研究的重点方向。

Ratings and rankings of cities on diverse dimensions of urban development have proliferated and attracted numerous social interests over the past decade,in line with the rapid urbanization process in China.This article discusses the historical origins,developmental stage,core issues,and future trends of city rankings in China,and proposes a theoretical framework to preliminarily explain the supply and demand of city rankings.The article finally discusses the future research avenues of city rankings,and their emerging,characteristics,influences and governance are promising research directions.
