氢氧化铝可作为阻燃剂在沥青路面中使用,加入氢氧化铝阻燃剂可以使沥青变得粘稠,随着阻燃剂掺量的加大,沥青针入度、延度变小,软化点逐渐变大。氢氧化铝的加入可以提高沥青混合料的高温抗永久变形能力,有利于减少路面车辙,而对水稳定性没有明显影响。
