A New Explanation of English Rhetorical System

英语辞格研究经历了由盛至衰的发展历程,直到上个世纪中期随着认知语言学的兴起,修辞研究才开始复兴。认知语言学视野下的修辞研究尝试回答"B为何能被A所言"的问题,但对"B如何被A所言"则尚未深入讨论,尝试从心智哲学的角度对此加以回答。首先通过对修辞格本质属性的重新阐释来建构一个新的英语辞格系统,然后从意向性理论出发研制一个意向性解释框架,目的是以此为研究工具对意义类辞格的生成机制进行解释,最后以"同向相邻类辞格"为例进行了相关研究,结果表明,一个修辞格的形成可视为话语主体在一定的意向态度的制约下,借助修辞性的话语对欲表达的意向内容进行解释的过程。

The process of study on figures of speech floats with the boom-bust-and-renaissance cycle. The main contribution of cognitive linguistics lies the tries to answer such questions as Why B can be aroused from A？ and How B to be roused from A？ For the former, linguists have provided some successful explanations, while the latter is still short of inadequate answers. For this, an explanatory research based on philosophy of mind has been presented in this thesis. First of all, a new system of English figures of speech has been constructed by means of substantial reinterpretation of the nature of figures. Following that, the author develops an intentional explanatory framework＇with the aim of mechanism on tropes. In the last part, the syntropy-adjacent tropes are taken as an example to show that the production of trope is the result of figurative expression for intentional content on the control of intentional attitude taken by addressers.
