Analysis of "Empresses in the Palace"(Overseas Edition) on Functional Translation Theory

功能翻译理论是基于从交际角度出发的功能主义翻译分析方法上发展起来的一种现代翻译学理论。该理论着重从语言功能、语言维度、语言重点等方面探索翻译方法、翻译行为及目的,在该理论指引下的文本类型、翻译方法、翻译行为和目的均有其特有的视角及功能目的。其主要观点是把翻译看作是由目的所驱动、以结果为中心的交际活动,翻译应该采用"顺应"策略,以期对译文读者产生同样的效果。从功能翻译理论的视角,对电视剧《甄嬛传》海外版翻译进行解构与分析,以期突破中西方文化跨文化交际中的理论瓶颈,探索中英文翻译学的基础和支撑,促进文化交流过程中的准确与功能上的目的性。

Functional translation theory is a modern translation theory based on the analysis method for the purpose of communication. It mainly explores translation method, behavior and purpose from the aspects of language func tion, dimension, and emphasis. The text, translation method, translation behavior and purpose under the guid ance of such theory all have their specific angles and functional purposes. Its main idea is to think of translation as a communicational activity driven by the purpose and centered around the result, therefore, accordance strategy should be taken in the translation to achieve the same effect for the readers. This paper deconstructs and analyzes Empresses in the Palace （Overseas Edition） based on functional translation theory, in order to build a bridge between the western and eastern cultures in intercultural communication, to explore the basis and support of the translation theory, and to achieve the accurate and functional purpose in intercultural communication.
