Based on the definition of "evil" in The New Encyclop? dia Britannica, the paper illustrates the dialectics of good and evil from two aspects : the definition of evll in the terms of ethics ; and the western philosophical and theological discussion about evil as well. It proves that good and evil are interdependent, and even can be transformed into each other. The standpoint which tells that good and evil is pure, absolute and extreme is not conducive to our understanding of evil.
