The ＂recognition issue＂ has been a tough one for the modem society. The derivative idea of ＂recognition discourse＂ has become a hot topic in today＇s academia. Beauvoir proceeds from the gender dimension and provides us with a wealth of ＂recognition discourse,＂ which discusses the necessity and possibility of mutual recognition between the sexes, the ethical principles for such recognition, as weU as other related issues. Her contribution has opened another space for ＂recognition discourse＂. In-depth study of Beauvoir＇s inter-gender ＂recognition discourse＂ is not only conducive to the building of a harmonious gender relationship, but also helpful for further enrichment and expansion of the contemporary ＂theory of recognition. ＂
