Death, as part of the narrative structure, occupies an important position in the narrative literature. Kate Chopin's The Awakening, by taking the heroine Edna's death as the end of the narrative, not only integrates the novel, but also gives meaning to the previous contents, and brings the novel rich philosophical implication. This essay explores the novel's death narrative and points out its aesthetic significance.
