Appreciation on "The Flowers of Girls" of Art Song Circles of Richard Strauss

Richard Strauss wrote over two hundred art songs all his life and he completed the song circle ＂The Flowers of Girls＂ in 1888, including Popcorn Flower, Poppy Flower, Ivy and Narcissus. All the four songs were selected from poet Felix Dahn＇works （1834-1912）. The paper will analyze how Strauss use abundant writing techniques to exquisitely depict four different young girls＇ charm represented by the four kinds of flowers.
