This paper introduced the morphological characteristics and damage characteristics of different instars of Sylepta ruralis Scopoli and compared to the similar insect pest Maruca testulalis Geyer and Lamprosema indicata Fabricius, Then summarized occurrence regularity and life habit of Sylepta ruralis Scopoli. Finally, it proposed the control methds from four aspects including agricultural control, physical control, biological prevention and chemical control, and introducted the principle, usage, efficacy and precautions of some chemicals.
