“飞白”的翻译策略:仿拟——以《西游记》汉英对照本为例

Parody:on Translation Strategies of Chinese Rhetoric “Feibai” As Exemplified by Chinese and English Versions of Journey to the West

汉语特有修辞手法"飞白"频见于《西游记》。通过比读《西游记》汉英对照本,我们发现,詹纳尔(W.J.F.Jenner)在处理"飞白"例证时十分精当,从而让非汉民族人士较好地感受到了原语的味道。同时,由于该辞格固有的抗译性及读者不同的认识角度,本文欲就个别略带瑕疵之处提出一孔之见。

This paper intends to probe into the translation strategies of the Chinese rhetoric ＂feibai＂, which frequents Journey to the West. A comparative study of some typical examples in this bilingual work ascertains the author that W. J. F. Jenner has done a brilliant job in enabling non-speakers of Chinese to understand what the examples convey; mean- while, it also points out a few translation flaws since ＂feibai＂ is a ＂hard nut to crack＂ and the author as a reader may understand differently.
