The Cradle of Chinese Contemporary Fiber Art—Maryn Varbanov Tapestry Research Institute

中国美术学院万曼壁挂研究所成立于1986年4月，由保加利亚功勋艺术家万曼教授（马林·瓦尔班诺夫MarynVarbanov）创建和执导。1989年由文化部正式命名，它是中国建立的第一个从事当代纤维艺术创作与教学的机构。

Maryn Varbanov Tapestry Research Institute of China fine Arts Academy was found in April, 1986 and got- ten the name in 1989. It is the first institute which was started and taught by professor Maryn Varbanov, a Bulgaria artist, for creating and education of contemporary fiber art in China. This institute was based on Zhejiang Fine Arts Academy, and included a number of outstanding young teachers as core strength, and combined with the technology of Zhe]iang Art Carpet Factory, that opened the vision of academic art, and brought new exploration of new art materials and forms. So, contemporary fiber art has become an independent art discipline since 80s of last century.
