新中国成立时,执政的中国共产党及时而富有远见地将党领导的统一战线纳入国家制度体系,使之具有适应中国国体政体要求的政治制度性质,进而成为社会主义制度的有机组成部分。改革开放以来,爱国统一战线的制度建设成效显著,成为一项主要协调"五大关系"的具有基础性的社会主义民主政治制度。明确爱国统一战线是宪法确立的政治制度,对推进广泛爱国统一战线发展、对社会主义民主政治建设、对中国特色社会主义制度建设等都有着重大意义。

During the establishment of new China,the Party with vision integrated the patriotic united front under its leadership with the national system and adapted it to China’s political system of socialism as an indispensable organic part.Since the reform and opening-up,the Front has become basic democratic political system as the basis to coordinate ＂five key relationships＂.The clarification of the Patriotic United Front as constitutional political system plays key role for promoting extensive patriotic united front,the building of political democracy and the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
