新生代农民工正处于由传统人格向现代性人格转型的关键时期,转型期的新生代农民工人格发展状况表现为:经济和思想相对独立,重视物质和精神双重需求,正在向自主型人格转型;具有明确的务工目标和理性的职业规划,彰显进取型人格特征;乡土痕迹明显减弱,心理和行为上呈现城市化趋向,正在向开放型人格转型;注重提高自身素质并在工作中务实、担当,具备效能型人格的典型特征;法制观念和公民意识开始形成并注重维护自身合法权利,尚法型人格特征逐渐形成。深入分析这些状况可以看出,转型期新生代农民工现代性人格具有发展性、双向性和不平衡性。在新生代农民工现代性人格转型过程中,社会经济特征、家庭背景、大众传媒接触、城市生活经历、工作组织化程度和社会交往等因素,共同构成新生代农民工现代性人格发展的成长环境,对新生代农民工现代性人格的形成产生重要影响。

New generation of migrant workers is in the critical changing period from traditional to modem personality. Their modern personalities are developed as follows： they are economically and ideologically independent, they often pay high attention to both material and spiritual needs, their independent personality is formed. Most of them have clear objectives and rational career planning, and they have demonstrated aggressive personality traits already. Their local traces are significantly weakened, and they present psychological and behavioral urbanization trends, while moving towards open personality. New migrant workers incline to focus on improving their own quality, and they are pragmatic in work. With these traits they have possessed the typical characteristics of modern personality. New migrant workers begin to pay attention to safeguarding their legitimate rights, their le- gal awareness and civic consciousness begin to form and legal personality traits are evolved. From the analysis of the state of their development, we can conclude that their modern personalities are characterized with developmental trend, bi-way directions and imbalances. We have to admit that social-economic characteristics, family background, mass media exposure, city life experience and organizational degree of working as well as social interaction together constitute the developmental environment in this process, and have an important impact on the formation of modem personality.
