A Comparative Study of General Education Subjects in Chinese and American Colleges

摘要 通过对比中美两国高校通识教育课程设置状况,我们从中发现:中国高校通识教育更重视素质教育、课内教育,以及"公共必修",人文通识课程以概论课为主;而美国高校通识教育更注重能力教育、课外教育,以及"分类必修",人文通识课程以研读经典为主。中国大学要在充分发挥自身优势的基础上,借鉴美国等国外高校的成功经验,采用适应时代脉搏的新策略:教学目的指向学识、能力、人格;课程设置兼顾民族与世界、传统与当代四元素;课程开展注重"三结合";教育手段灵活、多样、现代。唯有如此,才能科学高效地实施通识教育,培养出一专多能的复合型人才。 By a comparative study of general education conclude that general education in China emphasizes public compulsory courses. But general education in subjects between Chinese and American colleges, we quality-oriented education, classroom education and America attaches importance to competence educa- tion, outside education and classified compulsory and general education of liberal arts centers on the stud- ying of classics. Chinese colleges should apply its own advantage, draw the experience of success of Amer- ican colleges and adopt new strategy with characteristics of the era. The purpose of education in Chinese colleges should foster knowledge, competence and personality. It's curriculum schedule should show off characters of nation and world, and tradition and modern. Methods of education should be flexible, vari- ous and modern. On the basis of these advantages, Chinese colleges will implement general education sci- entifically and effectively to foster comprehensive talents of one specialization but with manv skills.
