波特笔下双重性格的母亲——以短篇小说《他》为例

The novel with concise words and symbolism portrayed man＇s selfishness, ignorance and vani- ty in extremely poor environment. A double-personality mother dominated the whole story＇s conflicts. This novel＇s characteristics are portrayed in three aspects： on one hand, it is from the environment for the growth of Porter, on the other hand, it is the use of writing styles and techniques, lastly, writing theme is reflected mainly to highlight the dual contradiction. Potter described a tangled-in-contradictions mother who gave birth to a low-intelligent son and suffered in straitened family life delicately and profoundly, and highlighted the people＇s misunderstanding and poor emotional communication theme.
