佳荣水族人认为巫婆是天生的，她们借助巫术给人治病、解释“非同寻常”的遭遇从而慰藉心灵。巫术为巫婆带来了经济收入．使得一些人怀疑巫婆的动机．但大部分人认可巫婆是“做好事的”。近年来当地巫婆数量减少、巫术影响力降低，但人们相信巫婆和巫术还会存在下去。

Jiarong Shui people believe that a witch is born to be a witch. Witches use witchcrafts to cure diseases and explain unusual encounter to console people＇s souls. Witchcrafts contribute to witches＇ income, which causes doubt about their motivation from other people, though most people still trust them and regard them kind- hearted. In recent years, the number of local witches is decreasing and the impact of witchcrafts has been lessened. In spite of such challenges, people still believe that witches and witchcrafts will exist in future.
