On Lessing's Writing of Colonialism in her “Space Fictions”

英国著名女作家多丽丝·莱辛的"太空小说"是她最重要的文学创作之一,这个系列小说塑造了正面的殖民帝国形象,描绘了上帝一样的殖民者。为了美化殖民主义,"太空小说"中用了三大谎言:1.殖民活动是先进社会对落后社会进行援助,通过"和谐共生"以帮助殖民地发展;2.通过提供教育与培训提高殖民地人民的文化水平,促进殖民地经济与文化发展;3.殖民活动符合自然法则,对落后地区进行殖民是"必需的",也是历史发展的必然趋势。由于莱辛的殖民者身份,她在小说中表达了对殖民活动的理解与肯定,同时也完全显露了她的殖民主义思想。

＂Space Fictions＂written by the famous English writer Doris Lessing are part of her major fictions,in which she creates the positive image of the colonial empire and God-like colonialists.In order to beautify colonialism,Lessing has told three lies about colonialism in these novels： 1.Colonizing process is the aid to the backword world by the advanced world through ＂harmonious coexistence;2,Colonialists promote the economic and cultural development of the colony by offering education and training.3.Colonizing process accords with the natural law because it is a historical necessity to the backword regions.Because she is a colonizer in nature,Lessing confirms the colonizing activities in these novels.
