On Chinese Character Components and Radicals of Chinese Characters

汉字的偏旁、部首是汉字学习中的两个重要概念,二者之间既有联系,又有区别。通过对《新华字典》部首目录进行简单统计,发现笔画越少的部首越多,笔画越多的部首越少;偏旁是对单个字进行一次拆分时运用的概念,而部首是对一组同偏旁字进行研究时,对其偏旁的统称;部首可以由独体字构成,也可以由独体字的偏旁变形演变而来。

Chinese character components and radicals, which are relative and diiterent, are two important concepts for Chinese learners. The statistics on Xinhua Dictionary shows that the less the components are, the more the radicals are, and vice versa. The component is the application concept when splitting one Chinese character and the radical is the name for one group of same components. The radical can be one single - form character and one component evolved from one single -form character.
