On Comparison of Military Forces between Zheng's Maritime Group and Dutch East India Company in the Taiwan Strait in the Middle of the 17th Century

郑氏海商集团与荷兰东印度公司,是17世纪中叶台湾海峡最为强大的两股军事力量。荷兰东印度公司拥有强大的海、陆军,其武器装备代表着当时的世界先进水平;而郑成功领导下的郑氏海商集团,虽然军队武器装备不如荷军,但在人员数量、训练水平、作战经验、战略战术指挥等各方面都要比荷军更具优势。郑氏海商集团正是充分发挥了这些军事上的优势,才能在17世纪中叶的台海霸权争夺中屡次挫败荷兰东印度公司,并最终从其手中收复我国神圣领土台湾。

Zheng＇s Maritime Group and Dutch East India Company were two of the strongest military forces in the Taiwan Strait in the middle of the 17th century. The former headed by Zheng Chenggong, though not as well armed as the latter, re- tained superiority in the number of the military personnel, training level, operational experience and strategic and tactical com- mand while the latter possessed a powerful navy and land force with its weapons and equipment representing the world＇s ad- vanced level. However, it was Zheng＇s Maritime Group who gave full play to its military advantages that could beat its opponent in the struggle for the hegemony of the Taiwan Strait and finally recapture Taiwan.
