Some Important Critical Issues on Early Tsinghua University Library

清华大学图书馆在中国图书馆近代化发展过程中占有重要地位。利用清华大学图书馆和清华大学保存的第一手资料,对清华大学图书馆初创时期的图书室建立时间、最早的图书室地点、最早的图书室图书、图书室第一任主任黄光、第二任主任戴志骞、图书馆一期建筑工程、"清华学校图书室"改称"清华学校图书馆"的时间等关键问题进行辨析,澄清现有研究中有误或含糊不清的史实、观点和结论。

The establishment of Tsinghua University Library is an important event in the course of the develop- ment of Chinese modern library. We used the first - hand historical materials to clarify some important critical issues of early Tsinghua University Library such as the setup time, the initial place, the earliest collection books, the first director Huang Kuang, the second director Tse-ehien Tai, the construction of the first building, and the time when the name was changed from Tsinghua College Reading Room to Tsinghua College Librar- y. This paper dispels those improper or vague viewpoints and conclusions of current researches related to Tsing- hua University Library.
