An Argument of the Title of Confucian Analects

"论语"作为书名出现不晚于战国中期,但在成为经典文本以前,其名称并不统一,这是《论语》学史上长期争论不休的一桩学术公案,近年来亦有不少学者撰文申论之。综观诸宏论,却总有不尽如意之处,故撰文以辩之。

The appearance of Confucian Analects as the book title should be dated to middle Warring States period. But before the book became a classical text, the book title was varied. This has been an academic issue in the history of Confucian Analects and in recent years there have been quite a few schol- ars writing to argue about it. But all the previous arguments lack something satisfying. The present paper will further argue about this issue.
