Rhopalosiphum padi （Linnaeus） （Hemiptera： Aphididae） mainly damaged wheat crops, and also feeding on gramineous crops such as rice, sorghum and millet and grass weeds, cyperaceous weeds. This paper introduced the morphological characteristics and damage characteristics of different instars of Rhopalosiphum padi （Linnaeus ）and compared to the similar insect pest Macrosiphum avenae （Fabricius） and Schizaphis graminum （Rondani）. Then summarized occurrence regularity and life habit of Rhopalosiphum padi （Linnaeus）. Finally, it proposed the con- trol methds from four aspects including agricultural control, physical control, biological prevention and chemical control, and introducted the principle, usage, efficacy and precautions of some chemicals.
