Ralph Allison' s Invisible Man, as one of most important novels in the twentieth century which describe the American blacks' trauma, delineates their pictures for the exploration of personal destiny and racial fate, and shows the racial and cultural identity crisis which they have to confront for a long time, and also records a gradual conscious course of black cultural identity awareness through the protagonist' s anxieties for social identity, self-identity and the pursuit for the future. Anxiety comes from the concerns for their status in the world; therefore, in the white' s value- oriented American society, the anxiety investigation of self-identity, the social identity and the racial awareness has a far-reaching practical significance not only to the black community but also to the right demand of other ethnic minorities.
