小说《倾城之恋》以上海外来者的身份对香港进行了重新审视:在张爱玲的视野中,香港对于上海而言是一个充满色素相冲的异域都市;而香港导演在《倾城之恋》中又以文化寻根者的身份对上海的旗袍、上海菜等具有上海特色的元素进行回顾。张爱玲文本中上海是本土中国的象征,但在许鞍华的影片里上海只是香港回忆自己的底本,香港比上海更加自由与开放。
The novel Love in a Fallen City re-examines and explores Hong Kong as the outsiders of Shanghai. Hong Kong is an exotic city filled with pigment clash for Shanghai in the eyes of Eileen Chang, however, the movie Love in a Fallen City, which is directed by Hong Kong director Ann Hui, reviews Shanghai' s features such as Shanghai cheongsam, Shanghai cuisine etc from the angle of seeking cultural roots. In the novel, Shanghai is a symbol of the local Chinese, but it is just the background that Hong Kong recalls itself in the movie, and Hang Kong is more free and open than Shanghai.
