普陀山是我国四大佛教名山之一。以普济寺、法雨寺、慧济寺为代表的寺院建筑格局分属宫殿式与民居院落式两种 ,其作为佛教文化载体的寺院建筑与雕饰所产生的庄严、深邃、幽雅的感觉 ,表明这两种形式均具有佛教顶礼膜拜、超脱尘世的象征意义。普陀山又有许多摩崖石刻 ,内容大都是礼佛宏法或赞美景物 ,多数用楷体书写 ,端庄雄丽 ,与“海天佛国”

Mount Putuo is one of China's four famous Buddhist mountains.The temple architectural layout represented by Puji Temple,Fayu Temple and Huiji Temple falls into the palace-style and the local-style dwelling houses respectively.The temple architecture as a carrier of the Buddhist culture and the solemn,profound and elegant sense resulting from engraving show that both of the styles contain the symbolic meaning of prostrating oneself in worship and detaching oneself from reality There are a lot of rock carvings on Mount Putuo,which mostly reflect the content of worshipping Buddha and developing and expanding Buddhist scritures or of praising beautiful scenery.The dignified and splendid calligraphy on rocks is in harmony with the atmosphere of the Buddhist Kingdom.
