This paper focuses on D.T.Suzuki(Daisetz Teitaro Suzuki) 's renowned book On Japanese Spirituality,to explain that what D.T.Suzuki declared as 'Japanese Spirituality'was in fact built on his explanation about Chinese Zen,whereby we could also discuss D.T.Suzuki's knowledge about the issues surrounding Chinese Zen.The author first gave a brief account about D.T.Suzuki's life experience and the background of the book, his visit to China,as well as his contact with Chinese intellectuals.Through close examination of the book title and its correlation with Buddhism in Japan,it could be implied that D.T.Suzuki had an inclination toward nationalism. The author proposes that issues still remain after D.T.Suzuki regarded Zen as one of the symbols of Japanese Spirituality. At the end,the 'theory of To-be-cum-not-to-be'and the ideas of'human'are discussed to examine how D.T.Suzuki comprehended the spirit of Chinese Zen.
