This paper is focused on the researches of rod pumping systems. The character- istics of motion of polished rods, Gibbs models and practical applications of indicator cards, the modifications of Gibbs models are derived and studied in detail. This paper has achieved several important results and also studied the optimization of the models. The models and simulation results can serve as important references to solve the practical problems of rod pumping systems.
