This article described technical characteristics and applications of ultrasonic encoded phased array, including corrosion mapping, small diameter pipe inspection, large diameter pipes, pipeline AUT, in-line inspection systems （pipe mills）, etc. The intention is to provide useful references to promoting the further use of auto- or semiauto PAUT technology at home and meeting the requirements of the recent international code and standards.
