清代福建制烟业考

On the Tobacco Industry of Fujian in the Qing Dynasty

福建漳州是最早引进烟草的地方,清代漳州的"石码"、"小溪"、"长泰"相继成为国内名烟的代名词。随着漳州烟草被引进省内各地,闽南、闽西、闽北、闽中相继成为烟草产地,其中又以龙岩、永定、上杭、浦城、仙游等县的烟草最为著名。清代前期的"建烟"在国内十分畅销。一直到清中叶以后,大西南烟草业兴起,建烟渐成明日黄花。

In the ancient China, Zhangzhou, a city of Fajian, was the first place to introduce tobacco. In the Qing dy- nasty, the tobacco of Zhangzhou, such as ＂Shima＂,＂Xiaoxi＂and＂Changtai＂, were all well-known synonyms for the domestic tobacco. As the introduction of Zhangzhou＇s tobacco to the whole province, most parts of Fujian, including the south,the west,the north and the middle, successively became tobacco producing areas, among which Longyan,Yongding,Shanghang, Pucheng and Xianyou were the most famous. In the early Qing dynasty, ＂jianyan＂ was very popular in China. But after the mid-Qing, with the rise of the tobacco industry in the Big Southwest, ＂jianyan＂ gradually became a thing of the past.
