The Value of Discussing the Ideology and Theory of Higher Education in the New Period

思想是高等教育发展的灵魂。上世纪90年代我国高等教育界开展的"理论要点"研究推动了跨世纪的改革与发展;当今的高等教育又处于一个新的历史时期,迫切需要理论指导。尽管我们已经选择了内涵式发展道路,但学界对"现代大学制度、高等教育体系、抑制外延冲动"等重大问题的认识并没有统一。开展思想理论探讨的指向是要解决转型期矛盾、建设高等教育强国、促进教育适应社会,而思想的提出则要直面这些重点、难点和热点问题,并符合世界高等教育的一般规律和中国国情。

Ideology is the soul of higher education development. In the 1990s of the last century the research in ＂the theoretical points＂ was conducted in China＇s higher education field, which greatly promoted a crosscentury reform and development. Today, higher education is again standing at a new historical period and needs urgently a theoretical instruction. This essay thinks that, although we have chosen a road of internal development, the academics have not come to a unified sense of some important problems such as ＂modem university system, higher education system and restraining the impulsion to extend＂. We are conducting the discussion in the ideology and theory aiming at to solve the contradiction at the transitional period, to establish a nation of strong higher education, to promote education to adapt to the society, and we have to face these important points, difficulties and hot issues while proposing the ideology. All this should meet the general rule of the world higher education and the condition of China.
