摘要
斯宾塞是近代科学教育发展史上的杰出代表 ,他提倡科学教育 ,反对古典主义教育 ,认为科学技术对生产发展和社会进步具有促进作用 ,以及教育对科技振兴、生产力发展和社会进步具有重大意义。但他反对国立学校制度 ,提倡个人主义、放任主义 ,反对普及工人教育的主张以及坚持不可知论、庸俗社会进化论的哲学思想又是应该批判的。客观分析斯宾塞的教育思想 ,对于指导我们正确认识教育、科学技术和生产力之间的关系 。
Herbert Spenser, an outstanding representative in the modern history of scientific education development, advocated scientific education instead of classical education. He regarded highly the positive role of science and technology on the production and social progress, as well as the great significance of education on the scientific and technological revitalization, productivity raising and social progress.However, he objected to the state school system, advocated individualism and the policy of noninterference, stood against the popularization of educating workers and subscribed to the agnosticism, vulgar social evolutionism. This must be criticized. An objective analysis of Spenser's thoughts on education should help us acquire a correct understanding of the relationship between education, science and technology, and productivity, which is of realistic significance at present.
