A General Review of the Research on the Xi Ethnicity since the Founding of the PRC

奚族是我国东北古代民族之一,在历史上存在的时间跨度很长,从北魏时见于史籍,历经隋唐、辽金等朝,至元代方彻底消失。但是由于奚人没有建立独立的政权,故一直没有受到学界的重视,近年来随着辽金史研究的不断发展,学界对奚族的关注度不断提高,出现了一系列研究相关问题的文章,内容涵盖了政治、经济、文化等多个领域,取得了较为显著的成果。尽管如此,还是应认识到学界对于奚族的研究仍然存在较大不足,尚有很多问题有待相关研究者今后继续努力。

Xi was one of the ancient ethnicities in China, existing for a long time in history. It appearance was first recorded in the history of the Northern Wei Dynasty. It went through the Sui, Tang, Liao and Jin Dynasties, and disappeared completely in the Yuan Dynasty. Xi people did not ever build any independent state so that it failed to receive the attention of the academia. However, in recent years, with the development of researches on the history of Liao and Jin, and the continuing increase of aca- demic attention to the Xi group, there have been a series of articles on the related issues of Xi, covering the fields of politics, e-conomy and culture, and remarkable achievements have been made. Still, we should be aware that the academic research of the Xi ethnicity remains？ inadequate, and there are still many issues left to be researched in the future.
