A brief review on the recent progress of the determination of DNA using the fluorescence energy transfer system, and a thorough study on the optimum conditions for the determination of DNA using acridine orange safranine T reaction system as fluorescence probe is given in this paper. It is proved that the above mentioned method has the predominant advantages of high sensitivity and selectivity, low detection limit and wide range of linearity, and that it is a new and preferable approach for the determination of DNA.
